Writing Prompts Day 10

Day 10 of the daily prompts:

Seep

The water seeped in from every crook. The house was supposed to be my dream house, but now it has flooded. It had been raining four days straight, and no number of coffee cups or buckets did the job of rescuing this place. All was lost. I sat in my living room, wearing my yellow rain jacket, and wondered how everything had turned out like this. I had all the hopes and dreams for this place, and it was washed away so easily.

The constant dripping made the…

Valerie Laundry

She watched as the truck sped into the small cottage, causing the wall to collapse. She took her gun out and ordered her men to circle the truck. She walked slowly in, drawing the cabin door open. There was no one inside the truck. She kicked the side and cursed aloud.

Valerie had to get this right. Selena was counting on her to deliver. She had lost too many times. This was essential. She pushed the gravel off the way into the cottage. There were two bodies on the floor, gunned down. There was no sign of Miles or Polina.

She bit down the urge to scream. Instead, she barked orders for her men to move quickly at the back of the house. She saw Miles, Owen, and her brother running towards the tree line. She knelt down and took aim, missing her brother by an inch. She cursed again and forced herself to calm down. She again took aim, and this time, she got him by his feet, making him fly to the wet ground.

Creature

The soft pads waddled against the floor as the creature moved around the house. The boy was sure it had dreamed it to come. It had a fluffy fur around the round shape. There was a huge head with horns and sharp teeth. But it didn’t look scary.

The boy stood on his desk, watching the shin-high creature move around his room, trying to bite everything that got in its way. Its short, stubby hands made the same noise as its pad against the floor every time it grasped something.

The was a loud crunching sound as in went his priced ship model that he had built weeks. The creature spat out the content and moved on to the stuffed toys on his bed.

The boy screamed and leaped from the desk to the bed to defend his bunny and the cat. Instead, the creature latched onto his hand and began sniffing it out.

The Prompts are from the book: A Year of Creative Writing Prompts.

It has been raining for a couple of days now, and I have been procrastinating. I could have been writing all day, but I have been taking naps and watching useless TV shows. I haven’t been able to read either. It’s like something has nudged me on the wrong track, and I don’t know how to get back. I did manage to advance my book, so yay for that.

Thank you for reading! Have a magical day!
