Day 29 Writing Prompts And Mulling Over Writing

Day 29 of the daily prompts:

Moon rise

The silence between the phases of the sun and moon in the enchanted forest was tangible. Neither side knew who should be up. The fairies were already hiding under the leaves, and the goblins didn’t dare come out from their caves yet.

The forest was for those who dared to live in both worlds. No one knew who they were and saw them move around in the diminishing light. Yet, there were legends about their skin that didn’t burn from the sun and the bravery against the shadows of the darkness.

Signing

He could hear the melodic singing coming from far ahead. It was a sad song that melted his heart and brought tears into his eyes. Who would sing such a song? And who would have so much sadness in their hearts for the world?

He took longer steps, feeling as if the song trapped him in a cocoon, shielding him from anything else. There was only the hope of meeting the singer and the need to understand.

He came to a bridge. There was a small child sitting on the railing, a child with the deepest, fullest voice he had ever heard. The girl swung her legs and continued singing. He walked towards her, transfixed by her melody.

He reached to touch her and she bit into his hand. He collapsed on the bridge, letting her feed on him. Her reddish eyes seemed to continue the melody inside his head before he slipped away completely.

Dragon and Princess

“Good morning, Sir Dragon,” the little princess curtsied in front of the reddish dragon.

The huge dragon moved its shoulder blades and shook the night away.

“Morning, dear Princess,” it said.

The little girl had taught it human manners, which had seemed to make the doomed human happy and less afraid of her future as an offering.

The Prompts are from the book: A Year of Creative Writing Prompts.

I’m having a slow morning without the need to hurry anywhere. I really have to appreciate these. Slow mornings make everything so much better. I’m in a better mood, can write, feel less stressed; I feel light, creative, and optimistic.

Also, the weird thing is that my book sales have gone up tenfold. I don’t know why or how, but people keep buying them. I have no complaints here.

There is this Finnish children’s song from the year 1946 I loved as a kid. Päivänsäde ja Menninkäinen. It sings about a love between a last ray of the sun and a goblin, how they can never meet, how the goblin has to shield himself from the sun, and the ray has to hide from the darkness. Both will die if they stay in each other’s world. The goblin falls in love with the sun ray, but she has to leave or she will die. So the goblin destined to roam the night alone, wondering why someone is made for the light and others for the darkness. I still love the song. It brings back so many good memories. (The song)

Thank you so much for reading! Have a magical day!
