Day 35 Of Mulling Over Life And Writing Prompts

Day 35 of the daily prompts:

Tart

The sweet, bitter smell of freshly jammed cherries filled the kitchen. It made her think of her grandmother and how they baked her famous cherry tart every summer. She had awakened today, feeling oddly nostalgic, remembering her childhood summers at her grandmother’s cottage and her cherry tarts. She had to make one. She wanted just for a moment to be that kid again and feel as if summers were endless and the future held all the possibilities.

Family Beach Day

She watched her grandmother sitting under the shade, all pale from the sunscreen she had covered her face. She looked like a sour ghost forced onto the beach. Her mother tried to cheer the older woman beside her, and his father ran around to catch her siblings as they tormented everyone on the beach.

She laid her towel far away from her family and pretended she didn’t know anyone. She had her book with her, and she would read it until they could leave.

She ignored her mother’s shouting, asking if she needed something to drink, if she should put on more sunscreen, and if she should come under the shade. She was determined not to belong to that family that made every other family on the beach look decent, good-behaved, and normal.

Prince And The Brawl

He had had enough of the sheltered life. The palace treated him like some nitwit who could handle the real world. They were always a few steps behind him, pampering his every need. He was determined to have a normal experience. He had stolen one of his guards’ clothes and put it on.

But honestly, he was a bit flabbergasted watching all the people going about in the tavern. None of them had manners. They bellowed gibberish and took upon themselves that everything they said was the most important thing in the world.

The Prompts are from the book: A Year of Creative Writing Prompts.

I have had so many little things that have amounted to huge stress, stress that has made it impossible to eat. I thought that I had gotten over it, that things were becoming better, but no, today, I had to curl back to bed to calm my nervous system down, or else I wouldn’t be able to keep my food down.

I’m happy that when I got up, I could eat something, and things feel better now. I was also able to write this, and I feel like I can continue writing my fifth book in the Glorious Mishap series. I started it a few days ago, and I feel confident I can make it a good one. I took a long pause from writing it when I chose the sci-fi book over it, and it was a good decision. The pause made me reconsider all the issues I had with it, and now I have a stronger angle to it, and I am excited to write it.

Thank you so much for reading! Have a magical day!
