Day 50 Ruminations And Writing

Day 50 of the daily prompts:

Verbose

The verbose response made her want to scream. All she had asked for was a simple explanation, not some eloquent speech that would make her head spin. She hated it when people tried to shift the blame and responsibility by making it about something else. She tore the letter she had gotten and stomped her feet on the ground. Then she collapsed on the floor. All she had wanted was an apology, and now she felt like she was the most heinous person in the world. That she somehow had been the one who had done something wrong.

Mother And A Child

She watched her daughter get on her bike as she was about to ride to school for the first time. She had tried to take her daughter, but she had refused. She had to do everything on her own. That was how she had been made since the day she came out screaming. Always so high-strong. She loved her to bits, but she wished her daughter would let her hold her hand and be there for her occasionally.

Engagement Party

She watched at the woman, who had gotten her fired from her job by lying, dancing away the night with her soon-to-be husband by her side. Her ex-coworker didn’t know that she was aware of what she had done. That she knew she had done it to get her job. She wondered what kind of person would invite her to their engagement party after doing such a heinous act. But most importantly, she didn’t know why she had said yes and come. She wasn’t here for revenge. Maybe she was here to see if there existed a cosmic balance somewhere that would even out horrible deeds. There was no sign of such a thing at the party, and she felt miserable. She shouldn’t have come.

The Prompts are from the book A Year of Creative Writing Prompts.

These were challenging prompts to write. The themes are not what I typically write about. I go with a more speculative fiction style. But I don’t doubt that there’s something to learn from these things. There is. I’m not sure what that something is yet.

I have been dreaming lately about a rocky peach beside the stormy ocean, just sitting there and watching as the world folds into nothing.

I had a strange dream. I was in hell, and there were armies of orcs that I needed to sneak past. Then, when I arrived at the huge office-like building with demons and creepers inside, I started gathering people there to help them escape the place. We only got to the second level when a demon forced us to play a dungeon game he had created with his computer. I tried to convince him to make the bosses weaker than he was aiming for. I got the first two bosses just right, but with the third boss, he said that it needs to be hard to kill some of us or all of us, or it’s not fun. Then I woke up.

Thank you so much for reading! Have a lovely day!
