Guilt
There it was in her heart, nestled deep, cutting her and all she wanted to be. It was her fault, her pettiness, that made it hard to let go. She knew she should grow up. Be the bigger person. Forgive. But there had been hurt. There had been hatred. There had been mistrust, and here she was feeling guilty about drawing her lines, asking to be considered, but knowing that she wasn’t the bigger person here. She let her emotions dictate all and everything.
Dark Skies
The planet, with its dunes, stretched far in front of the crashed spaceship. Her helmet detected the atmosphere’s toxicity, adjusting the filter so she could breathe without needing oxygen tanks. The sand swirled underneath her feet from the thumbing coming from the distance.
Beyond the dune, the dark sky was gathering stormy clouds. It would rain soon. She could either walk towards the sound or stay in her spaceship to wait for the storm to pass.
A Chase
She hated her to death. She had been chasing after her years, waiting for the day when they would finally be equal so she could let go and accept herself. But all there was was a huge hatred that grew bigger with every continent she passed.
The Prompts are from the book A Year of Creative Writing Prompts.
How do you keep working on your craft when it feels like there is no point other than the love for it? I sometimes feel like I’m torturing myself for pursuing writing when all there is a need to write and the stories stuck in my head, yet there’s no monetary return. Writing takes time, and I need to give it my full focus and be in the right mood to write. Unfortunately, my day job often interferes with this. I feel drained and unmotivated. But letting go of writing isn’t an option either. I suppose I will do this anyway, so I just have to let my doubts surface from time to time and then deal with them.
Thank you so much for reading! Have a lovely day!
