Day 65 Ruminating And Writing

Soft

The fabric’s softness under a coarse skin felt almost sacrilege. He could feel the stares upon him at the store. The women looked like he didn’t belong there. He continued, despite their stares.

Best Friend

Her little nose pushed against his cheek. She held it there until he woke up. He scooped her on his chest and buried his hands in her fur. She purred loudly as he scratched her under her chin and then at the back of her neck. It was love. It had to be. A love two creatures could share on this alien planet, where there was only him, the research station, and the cat he had brought with him from Earth. She made it all bearable.

(This prompt was about passionate love, but my cat came to demand attention, and I knew that love and friendship come in all shapes.)

Moonless Night

She knew what to look for. She stayed still, having waited all year. The sky was blue, and the stars shined bright. The only thing missing was the silver moon…

(I cannot finish this. My thoughts are all over the place, and I cannot quiet them.)

The Prompts are from the book A Year of Creative Writing Prompts.

My mind feels scattered today. I’m not able to concentrate on anything. When I manage to write one sentence, the other sneaks away, and I have to try to catch it. I guess I’m anxious or agitated. It feels like my nervous system is on overdrive again, and I cannot seem to shake it off.

But I tried. That’s all that counts.

I’m not sure if I have the right mindset to write today. But I will still take a poke at my book and see what happens.

Hello again, and thank you for joining me on this journey! I wish you a great day ❤
