Strength
I have no strength to carry you on. You have kept my head above water for so long, and now it’s my turn, and I fear that I’m failing you. All there is anger and disappointment, and you deserve none of that. Why can’t I give you what you need? Why am I so angry with you? Your strength is greater than mine, and I have borrowed it from you so much that I have left you weak. I’m sorry. I have to resolve my inner conflict so I can be there for you.
Cat’s Guide On Being A Responsible Human-Owner
Finding the right kind of human is imperative. Be mindful of their sleeping habits, activity levels, and conscientiousness. If all these are to your satisfaction, then you can adopt a human-owner. But I’m afraid that the work doesn’t stop there. A good cat teaches its human tricks, making the interaction more pleasing for both. And I mean both. It’s the cat’s task to prepare the human to rise early in the morning. Early mornings build character, and they teach humans the importance of perseverance and achieving their goals. Mornings should include some light petting and feeding for bonding. If the human fails to do so, you must teach them the hierarchy of the relationship. The best method for that is to use hairballs, and more drastic methods can be employed if necessary.
If they get the morning right, then you can teach them the right level of activity. They should themselves stay fit and healthy. So, if there are any processed foods or sugary drinks, try to avoid eating them and remove them from the table or couch. Zoomies at nighttime or when they have been sitting on their computers for too long will motivate them to take the necessary steps to stay fit. If you can also destroy their possessions at the same time, you will get them to do cardio.
Lastly, a relaxed human is a happy human. You must lay on them at every opportunity you get and purr loudly so that their bodies know how to take proper rest. If you notice them shifting nervously, it means they want to use the toilet. By prolonging the said action, you will teach them mastery over their bodies and minds, and they will be stronger and healthier.
Teleportation
She looked at the gate nervously. This was her first time trying out the teleportation machine. She was leaving Earth to study on Mars. She had bought a one-way ticket. The trip should be safe. It had been done thousands and thousands of times before. The rich even had their own teleportation machines, and she was sure they wouldn’t use them if they weren’t safe. It was just that she was known for bad luck, and she could feel it lurking behind her. Nothing too bad had happened for a long time, and now it was bound to.
She took a step forward in the queue and waited for her turn. One by one, people disappeared into the gate. When it was her turn, she was sure they could hear her heart pounding. She watched as her possessions were taken through the gate next to her. The operator frowned at her and gestured with his hand to hurry her along. She held her breath and stepped in. There was a tingling sensation, and then she was on the other side. People stared at her, gasping.
She swallowed and looked at herself. She had come out with holes in her body. Instead of seeing through, they were like little black holes in her. And before she could react, she was pulled aside.
The Prompts are from the book A Year of Creative Writing Prompts.
I was sure nothing good would come out of today’s prompts because I slept too little and badly, but I’m happy with the outcome. There were even moments when I felt my writing flowing.
Oops… I just erased everything with a keyboard command. There was a prolonged second when I felt terror that I had lost everything I had written. Thank the writing gods that these things have an undo command and stored memory.
Anyway, I wrote yesterday, and I was happy with the progress I made with my writing. The writing and the sentences were as they should be, and I got it the way I wanted them.
I wish this general tiredness would go away. I can’t remember the time I had several days in a row when I didn’t feel like crawling back to bed.
Thank you for reading! I hope you had a good one or are having a good one ❤ (Time zones are weird.)
