Day 70 Ruminating And Writing

Royal

There it was, the richness of the color against the white shore. The royal blue was like a dream he had been looking for all his life. The hue was like no other. It was what he would paint, and it was what would drive him mad. He could already feel it.

He set the painting kit on the sand, laying his brush there one by one, and set up to paint.

Boss Witch

Whenever he said to his Normie friends that his boss was a witch, they laughed. They made funny jokes about women and bosses. He laughed along with them, needing the release, but it never satisfied the itch he had. His boss was an actual witch, and he had been running errands for her hours straight today, fetching ointment number three, looking for a magical snail that only glistens in the mid-day sun, and so on. His back was hurting, and his feet were killing him.

He set up the desired objects on her wooden counter, along with the herbs from the garden. She was nowhere to be seen. The ritual had to be done for their client exactly in three minutes. He shifted his weight from one foot to another, knowing that if they were late and they were forced to postpone the ritual for tomorrow, he would get the poor end of the stick. It was never her fault. And she would deduct the lateness fee from his payment, not hers.

He sighed. But there she was. Dressed all divine, in green velvet and copper jewelry. Her auburn hair fell to her shoulders, draping her perfect face. She was the only woman who could be as perfect as she was. He was sure she was using glamour.

“Mistress,” he said.

“All set?” she replied.

“All set,” he sighed. He had tried to quit so many times, but he never dared it.

Vampire, Incubus, And Werewolf

They sat around the bar, looking at each other, no one daring to say the first words. This happened every week. Yet, when they got the words going, it became easier to dish out all that was in their minds. None of them had asked to become what they were. All had happened suddenly and unexpectedly. They had found each other online. At first, there had been the initial doubt that the other one was messing with you, but when the fangs, claws, and glamour had come out, all of them knew they were the real deals.

The werewolf was remorseful as fuck. She felt bad for all the deer she hunted and killed. The vampire kind of liked the whole hunting thing, and they went out with each other. He tried to stay away from humans, but occasionally, he would lapse. But they were here for him. The incubus was never satisfied. Even now, she was eying her next lay at the bar. She needed them to die between her legs. Her body count was far more enormous than the other two, and she hated it and loved it. She had dark circles under her eyes again from all the crying.

The Prompts are from the book A Year of Creative Writing Prompts.

My mind is drawing a blank. I was sure that I wouldn’t be able to write the prompts today, but they all just came out relatively easily. I’m happy about that. The royal word tricked it because I didn’t want to write about royalty, and I found a way around that. I was pleased, and I could write the other prompts as well.

It’s a midsummer fest here today. I will be out all day with friends, eating and drinking (I don’t drink alcohol). It’s a weird tradition, but I love it. The summer nights are endless here as the sun doesn’t set, and it is bright even at midnight. It’s magical.

Thank you for reading! Have a wonderful midsummer day ❤
