Paints

The home-made laboratory took half of the first floor. He had been adding on to it, running tubes across the entire room. One day, it would be a glorious construction that could produce anything, but for now, he had to pay the bills, and he had been making paints for the local artists the old way. It was a tiresome task. A task that allowed him to test the setup. But his dream was and forever would be to find the elixir of youth. It was the ultimate dream of any alchemist.

A Razor-Sharp Smile

The metallic arm twisted around the doorknob, letting them pass. He tried not to look too deeply into the android’s eyes. They always gave him the creeps. He was sure they knew more than they were programmed to do. That there was a ghost in the machine, and one day that ghost would be released.

The back room of the small office was tight. He let the others search the place, taking in the whole. The proprietor of the small electronic chop-shop was murdered last night. The staff had found him dead. He couldn’t help but glance at the android. She smiled back a razor-sharp smile, making him flinch.

The smile was gone as fast as it had appeared. The android had a deadly serious face.

He turned the mod on, checking the systems of the model. Everything was fine. She was connected to the mainframe and had all the protocols in place. Yet there was that haunting feeling that those green eyes of hers were more than they were.

Principal’s Office

This prompt was about a boy getting into trouble, taking a swing at another student, and meeting a girl waiting for the principal for the same reasons. I didn’t have the stamina to write this one.

The Prompts are from the book A Year of Creative Writing Prompts.

I had a slow day today. I couldn’t keep my focus, and the time kept slipping away. It feels so odd to write this late. I almost skipped writing. I still think I should have. I haven’t gone out yet either. It’s like today is a day that was meant to be skipped. Nothing sits right. I guess there are and forever will be those kinds of days.

Thank you for reading ❤ I hope you are having a wonderful day!
