Lie
It was a big one. It bubbled inside him, making…
I thought writing about a lie would be easy. But my mind is drawing a blank.
Bear Cub
The boy sat on the park bench, licking his fingers. Her mother wailed farther away. He offered the honey jar to the bear cub next to him. The little one pushed its long tongue in and ate the honey. Every attempt to separate them made him wail all high and might, and the cub to roar. So the whole park watched aside as he was making a good friend.
Furiosa
The beer foamed over the jug. He gulped it down in one swig and hit the empty jug on the table. The room roared with laughter. He joined in, making his barrel chest boom along with the other warriors. The day had been a good one. Battles had been won. Battles had been lost. There was blood on the hilt of his sword. There were shared memories of the fallen. But most of all, there was food and drink, and laughter to celebrate.
The night slipped away, and he stalled his return home. There was one battle to be fought before he could put the day to rest. His Furiosa was there, and she would be pissed. And when she was pissed, the fucking took a darker turn, and he already had a sore back and bruised ribs. But passing out to the great hall made sure that there would be no fucking or no returning home for a week’s time. He rather hoped that another battle was declared to be fought. So he could leave straight away and face his good old friend Death again.
The prompts are from the book A Year of Creative Writing Prompts.
