Brother
The sun colored the landscape behind the thick clouds to glow orange-red. They had been riding for days to get here, in hopes there was still some life left. There wasn’t. It was yet another city bombed into ruins. His brother sat on his motorcycle, clutching his gun, watching the city open underneath them.
The roads ahead were blocked by the abandoned cars and fallen rubbish. The buildings were bombed almost to the ground. Here and there might be safe spaces. The only way to find out was to go down there and put them in danger of ravenous dogs and, God forbid, stranded aliens.
They had been looking for months for any sign of life. Any sign that there was still humanity left. When the aliens came and invaded Earth, the only thing humans could do was detonate their nuclear bombs. There were places where no living thing could go. But there were still places where humans could have survived. They had been searching for such a place to start civilization again.
The aliens were mostly killed. Some were left behind, and they were pissed off as fuck. They didn’t ask questions; they went for the kill.
He wore a necklace made of their bones to remember and to remind.
Not In Love
This is about a couple who both want to end their relationship, yet both think the other one is in love. I couldn’t find an angle for this one.
Telemarketers
I can see this playing in my head. I can see what happens, but I don’t find words to put this down. This was about a family that has made a game out of tormenting telemarketers.
The prompts are from the book A Year of Creative Writing Prompts.
WHY OH? WHY? Why such prompts? Where are the aliens? The werewolves? The end of the world stories? The wastelands? But I managed to turn at least one around, yes? YES!
Thank you for reading! If you see any aliens today, say hi for me ❤
