Raven

The majestic creature of the sky in the darkest hour. She heard the caws in the distance and knew what they meant. A few more and there would be death in this witching hour. This was her forest. This was her hour. And she wouldn’t let the ravens take another soul. She pushed through the brush to a clearing where the ravens had found their target. It was a little girl. Not older than seven or eight.

She wondered why the god wanted her dead.

“Mine!” she screamed, and the ravens scattered away from the little girl. “This is my forest, and she is my guest. If he wants her, then he will have to come to me first.”

She walked to the girl curled on the ground and drew her up in her lap. The ravens watched as she carried the girl out of the clearing. She heard their caws. Their warnings. The master would be mad.

Fictional Place

It’s a place like any other. It exists in the margins. It exists in the still moments. It exists in your imagination when you hold your breath and listen to the world hum. It is the sound that makes every other sound make sense. It is the feeling of floating that makes everything better.

Sassy Red Fox

Oh, Sassy Red Fox, you would have deserved a story, but I have to go. I’m so, so, so sorry.

The prompts are from the book A Year of Creative Writing Prompts.

I had a lousy morning and almost wasn’t able to write at all. Lately, I have been feeling tired and cold all the time. So I curled up with the cat on the sofa under two blankets and got my body all relaxed and warm. It did the trick, but now I have only five minutes to write, and the prompts are wonderful. Of course they are!

Have a day full of warmth and relaxation! Thank you for reading ❤
