Resurrection
The zombie resurrected from the ground. The markings she had drawn on its forehead ensured it was under her command. One by one, the other corpses lifted to their feet. Their empty minds waited for her command. She smiled. Her newly found army would conquer the kingdom, and she would reign.
Future
It was a knack. A skill she had suddenly awakened with. It was first a little flip here and there. She was walking home, and suddenly she was home. At first, she had thought it was teleportation. It made sense, but then the jumps got bigger and more erratic, and she could go back and forth. It was time travel.
She began experimenting with her skills. The more comfortable she got with it, the more control she had. And here she was, she was in the future, and it was nothing she had imagined it to be. She would have thought the whales were dead, the cities were burning, and the world had turned into a desert. But the world was like a huge conservation park. There were cities, but they were built with nature in mind.
It was like a perfect utopia, and she had a hard time believing it could be true.
City
The soft morning light washed the city with a yellow glow. Half the city is still asleep, and I wonder if it will ever wake to greet the day to come. Maybe today the world chooses silence. Maybe today we will have stillness instead of motion. The good kind of stillness. The one that leads to harmony and understanding. But it is not to be today; I hear the roars of the engines and watch as the jaybirds shoot in the air. Cities are not made to be still.
The prompts are from the book A Year of Creative Writing Prompts.
Sorry for skipping yesterday. I just postponed writing, and I never got back to it, even when I typed in the prompts and all. I felt sluggish yesterday. I still too. It’s like the beat is off, and I can’t find my way there.
Let’s hope for a better tomorrow.
Thank you for reading ❤ Have a day full of hope!
