Cub
The paths we take zigzag through the labyrinth of existence. They entwine with every lifeline that exists at the same point in time. You know that. You have always had it in your heart. Heart full of sorrow and pain and love and kindness. You wish you were made as strong as the little ones, the cubs, the bears, and the wolves of the world, to roar against injustice. But you have always been fragile. You feel everything. Every atom, every breath, every thought, every emotion in this broken world and time. All you want to do is curl up and forget that there is a world beyond the beige walls that has taken over.
But such a fate is not bestowed upon you. You know you have to be strong for the little ones: the cubs and the wolves. The ones who know nothing about bombs and greed. You are their only protector against this madness that now governs the soil, the skies, and the seas. You get up; you put your boots on; you dress in your prettiest gown and campaign for justice in a world full of injustice.

Oh, no, no, no, I got it all wrong. I don’t know how to fix it. What I got was lyrical (my writing was half-hearted at best), historical (what happened was current), quest (at least I got that there), and second-person (you were present again). I enjoy writing from you perspective. It gives so much room to play. But still, no, no, no. I would love to fix what I wrote, but I have to leave for work soon. What a great excuse to have. So all you get is this. I was so lost in the lyrical and historical parts of the prompt. Nothing came to mind. So I went to scroll through my library of images, found the one with the woman and the bear, and started thinking about all the wars going on in the world and what they do to the animal kingdom. How stressed they are. Just the boat traffic we have now has been reported to harm marine life. Dolphins and other sea mammals bash their heads against things and kill themselves. The noise is driving them crazy. Just think about all the bombing going on in the world and then all the little wolves, bears, bats, cats, dogs… You have such a quest ahead.
Thank you for reading! Have a day of kindness ❤
