Survivor

You saved the world. You killed them all, releasing humanity from the invaders, and now there was a world to be seized. It was just that the world in question was a trash heap, and the killing and saving part was the easiest thing you did. There now was a shit ton of cars, fallen buildings, wrecked statues to be hauled from one place to another, and no trucks or other motor vehicles to aid you. Even the horses that had escaped the invading aliens’ wrath had scattered all over the country, hiding from anything reminding you of a biped with armor and guns; you weren’t yet willing to give up either. The nasty chicken shit aliens still could hide somewhere in the underground tunnels even when you had flooded them, blasted them with fire and bombs, and with all the other shit you could find from the remnants of the army that had fallen first—incompetent nincompoops run by the private sector who did nothing else than produce documents to bill the government; so it had been left to you to save the humanity and build it new.

You weren’t so keen on the building-it-new part either. The remaining men to copulate were not so sore on the eyes, nor were they what you might call bright. They had huge muscles, there was that, some had cats and dogs as company—so one could argue they were kind—but you couldn’t get past the fact that they didn’t have enough computing power between them to start even a small fire. Okay, you were being unkind; it was just that you had been stuck with them for over two years now, and you wanted some alone time; right away, thank you very much. But no, you were the leader, liked you or not, and they couldn’t even pick up a fallen log without asking you first, let alone start farming and shaping the city into an inhabitable place after all the bombing humans and the aliens did. There had been a shit ton of bombs. You still carried a bomb of all bombs with you in case you needed to annihilate any surprise swarms of aliens, so some other bastard on the other side of the world had a fighting chance to revive human civilization.

Yet, you would do it all: build and copulate, just that there was some intelligence left in the world when you passed away. But now you crawled under the broken door to the only library left standing in the city, hoping to find a good book. After that, you would start the copulating and hauling shit in and out part, but only after. You deserved as much.

Shit! And that’s all.

I’m reading a book about bullshit jobs. The one that took the world by storm years ago. We are more screwed than I thought. We are living in a batshit crazy century that needs some recoding to make it more about humans and less about profits and elitist ideologies. But don’t worry, I’m heading into the woods today to rewire my brain, so this won’t run as a long rant about how screwed we are.

I got conversational, science fiction, comedy, second-person perspective today. I had fun writing, even when I feel sluggish today. It’s the heat that is catching up. There is too much of it. Even the cat looks as if all his bones have melted. But woods and swimming and all will be right as rain again.

Thank you for reading! Have a day of books today ❤
