New Land
Life in the other lands was harsh and cruel. So she had learned. The land was hostile, full of creatures that shouldn’t exist. One looked like it was meant to fly, but instead it was poisonous and dived into the waters. She wished to be back roaming her homeland’s moors. Someone might remind her she hated even in there; that she constantly complained about the rain, the dampness, the cold. That someone might say it was her. But she wouldn’t listen. She never had.
She dipped her brush into the jar of water and began mixing colors on her palette to get her choice of amber. What use it had was debatable. All she did was sit in the garden and paint, wait as the servants around her pampered her every need, and wait for her husband to come home after running the colony.
The servants had brought her horrible tea. Instead of it being steaming hot and soaked in milk, it was iced cold to cool off the heat. That was another thing that was everywhere: heat. She hated it. She hated the horrible place, with its spiders, sand, and isolation.

I’m not sure where this was going, but this was the image I got from today’s prompt specs. What I got was period writing with social commentary, voyage-and-return, and omniscient third-person. My mind is a bit scattered today. I find it hard to concentrate on anything. Too many thoughts swirling around, trivial ones. I think it’s because I’ve been beating myself senseless with exercise for three days straight. Yesterday’s program was especially brutal; even my friend stated that I looked like I was suffering.
Today is about recuperating and eating more.
Thank you for reading! Have a day of plenty ❤
