The Chase

Dentures floated in the glass. The early morning light played with the porcelain teeth, casting prisms in the water. No one was paying mind to the dentures or the teeth and, for that matter, the water. There was just a shuffling of feet that went around the bedroom. You could say there was a chase of diabolical size going on, accompanied by a growl that promised nothing good.

He was fleeing for his life, or more so, for the health of his floppy ass. The wearer of the dentures was after him, and he tried to shuffle farther away from his wife, who was making squealing noises as she tried to catch him.

To think that all the years, all the happenings, would have prepared him for these moments, but nothing could. He had grunted and complained, and occasionally begged her not to bite him, but the act never stopped.

She moaned as her artificial hip shot a pain to her back. He slowed and let her catch up to him. The smile on her face was worth it all. She sank her gums to her bare ass, and let out a happy sigh.

He was glad that she had lost her teeth and detested the prosthetic ones. What he was not so glad about was all the biting, but he had accepted that they came with the wife, and he wasn’t that keen on replacing her.

I’m sorry that I skipped yesterday. I postponed writing the prompt all day, deep-vacuuming the whole apartment, etc., to avoid writing. I couldn’t wrap my head around the prompt, not finding the words or an idea to write it. The prompt was and is: a comic, literary-fiction story about a voyage-and-return written in the third person. When I got it, I was instantly stuck. So I went to look for reference photos, and I got an image of an older couple that somewhat sparked my curiosity, yet nothing came of it. I didn’t get the words. I still couldn’t do the prompt as it proposed. But this was the best I could do.

Thank you for reading! Have a happy day ❤
