Revenge

The silver moon rose over the graveyard, causing the crickets to start their nightly opera. She watched the moon and shuddered, feeling the hairs on her back push out and the teeth in her mouth lengthen. She dropped onto her knees and tried to relax as the transformation turned her from a mortal into a beast.

Her howl silenced the nocturnal animals. She rose from the ground and stood to her new full height. Her mouth felt stiff. She drew her jaws open and stretched her new face, making it fit better to the werewolf’s bone structure.

She only had this night to set things as they should be until the next new moon. There were revenges to be exacted, and the list was long; the lousy human she was the rest of the time was too meager to handle her life on her own.

She left the graveyard behind. She always started at the old, forgotten cemetery when it was time for a full moon. Somehow the foolish girl inside her thought it was proper. The werewolf in her snarled at her. But revenge there would be. Her boss had been especially nasty, and so had some of her friends. They had to go. And she had no trouble getting rid of them.

She dropped to all fours and began running down the dirt road into the city.

My mind feels restless. Nothing stays put, and I had difficulty writing today. It feels like everything is wrong, even though nothing is. So I left the story short, unable to continue it. What I got today was a voice-driven horror about a rebirth, written in omniscient third person.

Thank you for reading! Have a calm day, and see you tomorrow ❤
